The player has to live together with robots three technological era of human development. You will be the first to build railway stations, after which the plants for the production of wagons are followed by. Next, you have to explore the sea, and you study the structure of boats, motors, and gradually go from steam engines. After that you are improving the motors, making the first car.

Gradually, your robots will be able to plant a crop, open a lot of agricultural branches, upgrade the production of food, putting them on the conveyor. The game has "Capture" mode. It is available immediately after passing the story campaign, and is very different from the simple passage. You deliberately create yourself the enemies that will manage artificial intelligence. After that, you have to fight them in the territories that they study exactly as well as you. But in The Colonists there are no unions, trading and friendly relations. Only war and victory!
