In Myst, the user turns out to be on the mysterious island, which is practically nothing unknown. And it is the main hero that is to solve the secret of this place, passing through numerous locations and solving a row of puzzles. Each puzzle will open the veil of secrets, thanks to which it will be possible to learn what happened here earlier, as well as reveal the plot parts. The essence of the gameplay is to move in the specified direction and solve the current puzzles. Most of them consist in moving objects from point A to point B, changing the sequence of location or use of small parts for larger items.

Each time, the system in Myst offers different tasks, which means that gamers will not meet two absolutely identical puzzles. For example, in one of the starting rooms it is necessary to find a hidden lever that opens the door in the wall, and then - activate the keys on the panel in the desired sequence to also open the passage. Due to the specific style of registration, it is difficult to determine in which time intervals of the game occur. There are airships here, and the overall ships of the old sample. Of course, they fulfill the role of scenery, nevertheless it effectively complements the environment. As for the plot, it is served through notes and documents. Especially the pages of the diary, which can be found on locations. At the same time, in the inventory you can have only one page, so after reading, it will have to throw it in order to be able to take another further in the course of the movement.
