The Suffering

The Suffering - a project in the Gorror-horror genre that combines the mechanics of games from the 1st and 3rd face. When passing, you can change control mode, as well as make elections that reflect on the karma and affecting the ending.

The plot acquaints the player with the main character named Tork, who sent to serve the punishment of Ebbot prison on the island of Carnati, Maryland for the murder of Wife Carmen and children Corey and Malcolm. Toke does not remember anything about those events and also lost the gift of speech. Upon arrival, there is an earthquake on the island, the light goes out, and the neighboring prisoners kill terrible monsters. Selecting from the chamber, the main character under the control of the gamer starts the struggle for his life and is trying to uncover the secret of the island, as well as find out the circumstances of the death of his family.

The game has 3 versions of the ending:

• Negative
• Neutral
• Positive

The offensive of each of them depends on the cruelty of the main character, its decisions about the salvation of the rest of the characters, and how often it will turn into a monster when the maximum of rabies scale is achieved. The monster is able to destroy opponents from two shots, however, the consumption of a special scale does not allow the hero for a long time in this image.

The gameplay is a movement on locations and the destruction of monsters from the 3rd face with the possibility of switching to FPS mode. In the process, the hero will find various notes, and use the archives: a terminal diary with the description of creatures and other characters of the game, and a diary of Consuela with a description of locations and key places on the island.

The ammunition is always not enough, and the types of weapons are a bit: Scotgan, the Thompson Avtomat, a pair of revolvers and flamethrower. Treatment occurs due to the "zombium" tablets found at levels, which are very few at high levels of complexity, like batteries for a flashlight needed in darkened locations.

Of the advantages of the game stand out: a studied plot with 3 versions of the ending, atmospheric musical and sound and successfully transmitted by the developers of the atmosphere of horror. Of the minuses: outdated for that time schedule, violation of scripts and frequent bugs.
