The player will still need to conquer the fictional state of San Andreas, located in the United States of America, as a black guy named Karl "CJ" Johnson. The protagonist left his native area Gruss Street in search of a better life, but was forced to return due to the sustainable death of the mother. Immediately after arriving in the territory of Los Santos, Si Jay faces the problem - selling coppers, pressing it and threatening prison and rough violence.

Throughout the single single-user campaign, the player needs to raise its authority in different circles and get more and more influence on the streets of cities located in San Andreas - Los Santos, Las Venturas and San Fierro. Gradually getting more and more territories under its control, Karl is moving towards the junction of history, including betrayal, unexpected scenario moves and a huge number of shootout using a variety of small arms, tanks and helicopters.
